Whitepaper

2022 Data Intelligence Index

According to IDC, 67% of respondents believe that data intelligence is crucial to making informed business decisions and driving better business outcomes. With mature organizations achieving three times the business benefit of the least mature organizations, that belief is well founded. Collibra commissioned this survey from IDC to learn more about the trends and to better understand where organizations are when it comes to data intelligence. In this whitepaper you will learn:

  • Why a data-driven culture is critically important in a digital-first world

  • The importance of adoption in ensuring successful data intelligence and better business outcomes

  • About the different levels of data intelligence maturity and the associated implications

Summary

Data Intelligence Maturity Drives 3X Better Business Outcomes

Preview

In a digital-first world, organizations need to put data first. An organization that puts data first is one that has a strong data culture, informed by intelligence about data, which enables data cataloging, lineage, quality management, and governance to improve trust in data and business outcomes.

Without context, data is of little value. But the addition of intelligence about data makes data invaluable as a critical input to decision making. However, organizations have varying degrees of maturity when it comes to making the most of their data. To understand trends and get a sense of where organizations are when it comes to data intelligence, Collibra commissioned a survey and study from IDC.

Based on IDC findings, there seems to be a universal recognition by organizations across industries that data intelligence is required to make informed business decisions. In fact, 67% of respondents to IDC’s Data Intelligence Survey claimed that people who are making data-driven decisions expect to have access to intelligence about the data they are using to make the decision. However, while survey data reflects that there is wide implementation of data intelligence technology, there is also a much lower level of adoption, with data cataloging and data quality management technologies among the least implemented and adopted. As a result, it’s no wonder that 65% of organizations are challenged with identifying and controlling data sources in their organization, and only 5% of respondents claimed not to have organizational data governance challenges.
