We expect our Senior Test Engineers to have a good working knowledge of exploratory testing/context driven testing and understanding of what good test automation looks like.

We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer who is a critical thinker and a powerful advocate for our users. You’ll be embedded in a fully cross functional team working closely with your teammates to determine what needs to be built, identify risks early and apply the appropriate test approach.

Senior Test Engineer, Test Engineering at Collibra are responsible for:

  • To gain an understanding of the product under test and use this understanding alongside your testing experience to question and identify bugs and improvements to the product features delivered. 
  • Inspiring and advocating for a better understanding of overall quality by driving good testing practices and more importantly instill testing in the team
  • Proactively engaging with peers on testing cross-product dependencies and alert engineering teams / stakeholders about risks and unaddressed dependencies that could impact the product quality
  • Bringing new ideas and innovations to the team and when necessary hold the team accountable for testing and quality.
  • Coaching developers and testers on good testing practices and techniques within your agile team and the wider Test engineering community.

You Have:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Software Testing
  • Experience in representing testing/quality in an Agile environment is crucial. You should be able to describe your inputs in Agile ceremonies and the entire SDLC in past roles as well as how you have helped to shape a test-first mentality.
  • Ability to read code at a high level i.e., find tests in a code base and understand the intent, debug through analyzing the logs and understand system architecture example- concepts such as a servers, database, middleware, web services etc
  • Good to have experience in testing cloud/SAAS applications, back end testing such as APIs and have a good understanding of branching strategies and how it impacts testing and quality.
  • Good communication skills and you enjoy collaborating with fellow co-workers

You Are:

  • Passionate about testing and quality
  • You are familiar with exploratory testing and applying it to test new features and changes in product.
  • You have the experience to evangelize and make necessary changes to test strategy based on the context and evolving objectives.
  • You can communicate clearly in different levels of technical expertise, such as non technical discussions with Product managers or technical conversations with engineers.
  • Excitement about new technologies and provide mentorship and share knowledge with other engineers

Reporting to Manager, Test Engineering, the measures of success are:

  • Within your first month, you will be onboarded with our products and practices and start getting insights into test strategy, team’s pain points, getting involved in your team’s testing practices.
  • Within your third month, you will you will have a good understanding of the team, their challenges and priorities
  • Within your sixth month, you will be a productive member of the global Test Engineering team, participating in testing, coaching and mentoring developers and testers on effective software testing practices
