Find trusted data products faster with the new Collibra Data Marketplace experience

The pace of AI and analytics adoption is accelerating, yet fewer than 25% of organizations can demonstrate measurable impact from their data investments. Despite massive spending on platforms, pipelines and governance, many teams still struggle to turn data into something people can easily find, trust and use.

Closing this adoption gap requires more than just managing data. It requires making it consumable. That’s where a data marketplace comes in.

While a data catalog is designed primarily for technical users to inventory and manage raw data assets, a data marketplace is a curated, user-friendly internal storefront built for data consumption. Instead of forcing business users to navigate complex tables, schemas and technical metadata, it organizes high-value, ready-to-use data products (data packaged with the relevant context controls and access methods) in a way that makes them easy to discover, evaluate and request.

The result is a simpler path from data to decisions, helping organizations put trusted data into the hands of the people who need it, faster.

What's new: Updated Data Marketplace experience

We’re introducing a new Collibra Data Marketplace experience (preview in 2026.04) designed to make trusted data even easier to discover and consume. Rather than simply providing a place to search for data, Data Marketplace becomes a proactive, value-driven internal storefront that guides users toward the most relevant and trusted data products.

At the center of this update is a new landing page that organizations can tailor to their brand, business domains and priorities. Administrators can curate the experience with a flexible interface, highlighting featured data products, organizing content by business categories, embedding videos and surfacing key metrics, such as available data products or access requests.

For data consumers, the experience becomes far more intuitive. Instead of navigating technical tables or schemas, users can browse ready-to-use data products through familiar business categories such as “Finance” or “Supply Chain”, making it easier to understand what’s available and how it can be used.

Note: While the vision for Data Marketplace is to showcase data products as the primary unit of consumption, we recognize that many organizations are still evolving their operating model. For teams transitioning to a data product approach, Data Marketplace can also surface assets such as reports or datasets alongside data products. This hybrid model helps organizations deliver value today while gradually standardizing on governed, reusable data products over time.

How the new Data Marketplace experience helps

Despite significant investments in data and AI initiatives, many organizations still struggle to turn data into something business users can easily find and use. Teams often waste time searching across fragmented platforms for relevant assets, and even when data is found, limited business context and complex access processes can make it difficult to use for high-stakes decisions. The new Data Marketplace experience addresses these challenges by focusing on the needs of data consumers, packaging trusted, governed data products into a curated marketplace experience that makes them easier to discover, evaluate and request. The result is faster access to high-value data and reduced friction in data consumption, providing a clearer path to measurable ROI.

The new Data Marketplace experience helps:

  • Discover data quickly through intuitive, category-based browsing and a curated landing page
  • Engage users with a tailored storefront that highlights featured data products, videos and relevant metrics at a glance
  • Increase confidence in data by making certifications and ownership visible right on the data product

Beyond the new experience, Data Marketplace in general helps organizations:

  • Reduce manual delivery bottlenecks by enabling a “build once, reuse many times” approach with governed data products
  • Break down governance silos by embedding context, semantics and access controls directly into each data product

How the new Data Marketplace experience works

The new Data Marketplace experience is centered on a flexible landing page and user-friendly interface, designed to make trusted data products easy to find and use. Administrators can shape the homepage to add critical context and reflect their organization’s identity, with important actions and resources always at hand.

Admins can showcase featured data products helping to ensure the most critical, approved assets are immediately visible and accessible. This helps guide users to high-value data and supports faster, more confident decision-making.

A key technical enhancement is the introduction of business categories, which use existing data domains or lines of business within Collibra. Up to 20 categories can serve as primary navigation hubs, and they integrate with Collibra’s search filters, allowing users to move smoothly between browsing the landing and category pages and targeted, in-context searches.

Data Marketplace now also supports a personalized onboarding experience: users with access to multiple categories are prompted to select favorite categories, which appear prominently in their side menu and are prioritized in search results. Favorites can be updated at any time as roles and projects evolve.

Users still have the ability to quickly add data products to their personal or collaborative/shared shopping lists, and trigger automated access request workflows integrated with tools such as Jira or ServiceNow, so governance, approvals and compliance are built directly into the workflow.
