Meet the new Collibra Data Marketplace: A curated shopping experience for data products
Data only creates value when people can actually find and use it; yet in most organizations, discovery is slow and adoption stalls. The opportunity is clear. According to GartnerⓇ, “by 2028, D&A leaders who have invested in a data marketplace for publishing, accessing and sharing data and AI products will achieve over four times greater adoption of their data products by the business.” ( Gartner, Data Marketplaces Are Key to Faster Data Product Adoption and AI-Ready Data Delivery, April 2026). The redesigned Collibra Data Marketplace is built to capture exactly that upside, turning data discovery from a scavenger hunt into a consumer-grade, self-service experience that any consumer, whether a human or an AI agent, can navigate with confidence.
What's new: The redesigned Data Marketplace experience
Your data teams have already done the hard work of building data products, certifying reports and governing datasets. But that work stays invisible if consumers can't find it, understand it or request access without knowing who to ping and how long to wait.
The redesigned Data Marketplace gives every user in your organization, including analysts, business users and AI agents alike, a single curated storefront for trusted, ready-to-use data. Just as importantly, this release simplifies the path from finding data to requesting it. Requesting access has been streamlined and brought together in one place, so consumers can move from discovery to a data access request in a single, coherent flow.
How the new Collibra Data Marketplace helps
Most organizations have invested heavily in cataloging and governing their data, but that value is lost the moment a business user can't navigate to it. Traditional catalogs are built for data experts, not for the analyst in finance or the recruiter in HR who simply needs a trusted data product to do their job. Discovery is slow, terminology is technical, entry points aren't governed for non-experts, and even once the right asset is found, requesting access usually means dropping into a separate, opaque workflow. The redesigned Data Marketplace experience removes that friction and makes trusted data genuinely self-service across the enterprise.
Problems it solves
- Data is hard to find: Users waste time searching across systems and interfaces built for technical audiences rather than business consumers.
- Discovery isn't organized around the business: Assets aren't grouped in ways that map to how teams actually think about their domains (Finance, HR, Customer and so on).
- The best data isn't surfaced: High-value, certified data products get buried instead of being promoted to the people who need them.
- Requesting access is disjointed: Finding an asset and requesting access have historically lived in separate flows, adding steps and confusion.
- The experience is one-size-fits-all: Without a way to prioritize the domains that matter to them, every consumer wades through the same undifferentiated catalog
How the redesigned Collibra Data Marketplace works
At the center of the experience is a configurable landing page that acts as the gateway to every accessible asset, available to users from the application menu at the top left and can be set as their Collibra homepage. Data Marketplace administrators fully shape what consumers see: the page title and subtitle, an optional branded hero area to carry your brand and internal context, featured assets, categories and helpful resources and actions. This makes the landing page the place where your data champions position the marketplace internally, presenting data the way the organization actually thinks about it, guiding newer and occasional users through the process, and lowering the barrier for the growing audience of non-experts (and AI tools) now working with data.
Configure the Home page as your consumers' front door to trusted data.
Category-based browsing is the primary navigation model. Categories are custom, admin-defined groups of assets that map to business needs, such as a Financial Reporting category for data products, and they double as an intuitive filtering layer and a natural starting point for communities.
Administrators create and manage them by defining a category's name, icon and description; enabling or disabling it; scoping its availability to all users or to specific global roles or groups; configuring the filters that determine which assets it contains; and setting the display order. Each category has its own page listing its assets, with administrators controlling what appears on each asset card.
Cut the search time by browsing curated data through business categories that map to your domains, like Customer.
Favorites and personalized search tailor the experience. Marking a category as a favorite pins it to the sidebar and boosts its assets higher in search results; optional personalized onboarding prompts new users to pick favorites on first visit. Search is scope-aware: searching from the landing page covers all of the Data Marketplace, while searching from a category page is limited to that category. Focused search, filtering and instant asset previews surface shoppable context, including available data, consumption formats and quality scores, right where the decision is made.
Discovery connects to action through the access-request flow. A configurable workflow layer routes each request, and access can be granted automatically based on pre-set criteria, accelerating delivery for straightforward cases. A centralized My Access Requests dashboard then gives every consumer a transparent, self-service view of their access lifecycle: track active orders, monitor status, and reactivate access in one place. Consolidating discovery and requests into a single flow cuts scattered tickets and email threads, giving the data office a cleaner, more consistent intake, and the consumer a single source of truth for where their requests stand.
Request access to data products directly in the marketplace, turning discovery into action without ever leaving the page.
Why you should be excited
- Data consumers (analysts, business users, AI engineers and AI agents): Find trusted data fast by browsing business categories, understand it through shoppable context and quality scores, and request access in a click, then track every request in one dashboard. A curated storefront, not an attic.
- Data product owners and producers: Deliver an enterprise-wide marketplace where any consumer can find, understand and access your products, and finally get the adoption signal and feedback loop that a governed, well-curated storefront produces.
- The data office and stewards: Keep full control over what's surfaced and how, with governed entry points and a consistent, consolidated intake for access requests. Self-service for consumers, without loss of governance.
Use cases
- Self-service tailored to each role: Relevant categories and assets are surfaced automatically, prioritized by each consumer's favorites and search scope, so people see the data that matters to their role first, then move from discovery to a data access request in one place.
- Promoting a new data product: When a product launches, administrators feature it on the landing page so it reaches the right consumers immediately, accelerating discovery, adoption, and access from day one.
- Fueling AI and analytics initiatives: Teams and AI agents quickly locate and request the trusted data and products they need to feed reporting, analytics use cases and AI initiatives, supporting AI-ready data delivery across the business.
- Employee onboarding: New employees are prompted through personalized onboarding to choose the categories relevant to them, giving them a tailored marketplace from day one, with the most relevant assets ranked higher in every search.
Key takeaways
The redesigned Collibra Data Marketplace is about making trusted data genuinely accessible to everyone: every consumer, human or agent, across your entire enterprise stack. By pairing a tailorable, consumer-grade landing page and category-based discovery with direct asset-level requests, configurable workflows, automated provisioning based on pre-set criteria and a transparent My Access Requests dashboard, it removes the friction between finding data and using it. Administrators keep full control over what's surfaced and how, so the experience stays governed even as it opens up. The outcome: any consumer can find, understand and request the data they need, turning your existing Collibra investment into faster, more confident, data-driven decisions.
