Today, we’re excited to announce that Collibra has acquired Raito—a pioneering data access governance platform purpose-built for the complexities of modern data and AI ecosystems. This acquisition advances our vision of delivering a single command center for organizations to confidently use data and AI, anywhere, at any scale.
The challenge: Effective access governance at scale
As organizations embrace AI, traditional identity and access management frameworks are proving inadequate. Manual workflows, static policies and fragmented governance controls across disparate data and AI platforms hinder agility and pose significant security risks. While individual data platforms have introduced more sophisticated access controls, organizations are left with a fragmented and brittle patchwork—unable to enforce policies consistently across environments, or align access with business context. This lack of centralized control has become a breaking point for companies scaling AI and self-service analytics.
Raito addresses these challenges head-on, offering a powerful solution that:
- Monitors data access and usage across multi-cloud environments
- Manages access controls dynamically, aligning with business needs
- Automates access provisioning and revocation, reducing manual overhead
By integrating Raito’s capabilities, Collibra enhances its Collibra Platform, providing organizations with a comprehensive solution for data governance and security.
Unified access governance for data and AI
The integration of Raito into Collibra’s platform will unify Collibra’s semantic graph with Raito’s security graph. This unified access governance approach unlocks end-to-end visibility, traceability and control at any scale.
One policy, everywhere
Organizations will be able to define access once—on the semantic graph—and have it enforced dynamically across platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, Google, AWS, Azure and more. This eliminates duplication, inconsistencies and inefficiencies across the data landscape.
Built to deliver Data Confidence™ to every role
- Data Stewards can apply purpose-based controls that reflect business policies, processes, systems, data categories or risk classifications, not just technical configurations
- Data Engineers can treat access like infrastructure—defined in code, managed via data contracts with end-to-end visibility
- Data Consumers get faster, frictionless access to data products through Collibra’s data marketplace—cutting weeks-long delays down to hours
- AI Teams gain full visibility and control over how AI agents use data—ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations
Shared mission
We’ve long known and respected Bart Vandekerckhove and Dieter Wachters, the founders of Raito—both former Collibrians who helped shape our foundation. Dieter led our engineering team and architected much of the powerful flexibility of our platform. Bart led our privacy efforts, pioneering work at the intersection of governance, access and privacy. It goes without saying that we share the same DNA and commitment to our mission — to empower data citizens to take command of data and AI, transforming possibilities into progress. We could not be more thrilled to welcome Bart, Dieter and the whole Raito team to Collibra.
Looking ahead
As we welcome the Raito team to Collibra, we’re energized by what comes next. Together, we’re moving with purpose and are setting a new standard for how organizations govern access in an AI-first world—one that’s unified, contextual and automated by design.
Stay tuned for product integrations and roadmap details in the coming months. In the meantime, we are proud to take this step forward—for our customers, our platform and the future of Data Confidence.
