Joining Collibra’s Tax Team

Joining Collibra’s Global Tax Team, you will join a forward-thinking Global Tax team dedicated to scaling our financial infrastructure as we grow internationally. Reporting to the Tax Director, your primary focus will be the daily execution and management of our global indirect tax function. 

You will be the hands-on owner of our US Sales and Use Tax (SUT) filings while acting as the internal lead for our international compliance cycle in coordination with external providers. A critical component of this role is digital transformation; you will lead the implementation of an automated solution for US SUT return preparation and filing, while exploring and evaluating long-term automation options for our global footprint .You will contribute to the overall efficiency of the department by assisting with direct tax reporting, filings, and various workflows, especially during busy periods.

This is a hybrid role based in our Raleigh office. Our hybrid model means you’ll work from the office at least two days each week. This setup helps us stay connected, work more closely together, and keep making progress as a team.

Senior Tax Analysts Are Responsible For

  • Execute US Indirect Tax Compliance: Lead the end-to-end in-house preparation and filing of US Sales and Use Tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely remittance across all nexus jurisdictions.
  • Manage International Compliance: Serve as the primary internal lead for global VAT/GST filings, coordinating data flow and performing detailed reviews of returns prepared by our external service providers.
  • Lead US Tax Automation: Act as the project lead for the implementation of an automated solution for US SUT return preparation and filing, transitioning current manual workflows into a scalable, tech-enabled process.
  • Strategize Global Automation: Explore and evaluate software and managed service options for global indirect tax automation to support Collibra's continued international expansion.
  • Coordinate Data Flow from NetSuite: Gather, validate, and reconcile monthly transaction data to ensure internal filings and external partner workpapers are based on a "single source of truth."
  • Own Monthly Indirect Tax Accounting: Prepare journal entries, maintain detailed support for tax accruals, and perform monthly reconciliations of all global indirect tax accounts and systems.
  • Support Direct Tax Workflows: Assist the Senior Tax Manager and Tax Manager in managing global direct tax compliance in accordance with local regulations. Assist in the preparation of the necessary data for the annual income tax provision calculations (US GAAP, IFRS, and local GAAPs for official statutory reporting).

You have

  • 4+ years of indirect and direct tax experience with a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department.
  • Hands-on experience preparing and filing US Sales and Use Tax returns.
  • Technical knowledge of global VAT/GST systems, specifically within a SaaS environment.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite or other ERP’s, plus a strong understanding of how financial data flows from an ERP into tax reporting workpapers.
  • Hands-on experience with indirect tax technology tools such as Avalara or Vertex.
  • Exposure to tax automation implementation or a strong interest in leading the technology transition from manual to automated filing solutions.
  • Broad-based understanding of tax and accounting fundamentals, including exposure to annual income tax provisions and global direct tax compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with agentic AI is a plus 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or advanced degree preferred.

Measures of Success

Within your first month: You will have established a working rhythm with the Tax team members, taken over the day-to-day coordination of data for our outside service providers, and successfully managed your first in-house US SUT filing cycle.

Within your first three months: You will have completed a review of all current manual processes within the indirect tax function, presented a roadmap for automation, and begun assisting the Tax Manager and Tax Senior Manager with direct tax return filings.

Within your first six months: You will have successfully led the implementation of an automated US SUT filing solution, begun implementing other global solutions identified in the automation roadmap, and supported the preparation of the annual multi-GAAP direct tax provisions.

Compensation for this role

The standard base salary range for this position is $88,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year. This position is not eligible for additional commission-based compensation. Salary offers are based on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and location.
