Project objectives

Customer is seeking Professional Services help in configuring and getting trained on Collibra Data Lineage.

In scope

Prep: Pre-Project Startup

Technical pre-work
  • Ensure version compatibility (5.7.3+)
  • Check for java runtime requirements
  • Download/unzip lineage harvester on the server
  • Ensure prerequisites have been completed (e.g. Power-BI configuration, Tableau upgrade, db permissions setup, access to PowerCenter files, open ports…)
Conduct a workshop to review all technical prerequisites, present the technical architecture and go through the security constraints
Installation & Configuration

Installation Install the lineage harvester app and check the connectivity to DGC and the data source
Check prerequisites Configure permissions at the data source level Review Catalog ingestion and compatibility with the lineage (schema name, link to database asset, etc…)
Configure & run lineage harvester
  • Create a source in Lineage Harvester by creating an entry in the configuration file
  • Run the synchronization
  • Conduct a configuration workshop to support the customer during their first lineage setup
  • Review customer steps and provide any support needed to confirm these items are all successfully completed
Final Preparation: testing

Participate in Data Lineage Bootcamp Conduct Data Lineage Bootcamp for up to 10 members of customer team (in a single group session)

Out of scope

Any and all tasks not detailed in the IN-SCOPE section above are considered out of scope, including:

  1. Knowledge of third-party software APIs and interface mechanisms.
  2. Use of third-party test automation software or test automation expertise.
  3. Any development with the DGC REST API.
  4. Installation, configuration, use or administration of any third-party software not provided by Collibra.
  5. Organizational Change management activities such as communication planning, organizational design or role mapping.


  1. IT Admin and/or Technical steward have been identified by customer in advance of project start.
  2. Customer will identify relevant stakeholders (e.g. technical steward, IT admin) to participate in the project.
  3. Customer will provide requested information needed for connecting and testing lineage.
  4. The Customer will provide machines and network access if Collibra consultants are not permitted to use their Collibra issued laptop (Mac or PC)
  5. Customer will provide remote access to Collibra staff to the Collibra environments in-scope.
  6. Documents will be delivered using Collibra templates, format and content.
  7. Customer and Collibra will mutually agree on the location of work. As a principle, full-day workshops and trainings are recommended to be conducted on-site whereas activities such as configuration, development, documentation and test support are performed remotely.
  8. Collibra personnel shall be deployed during Collibra’s normal operating hours in the location of work.
  9. Bootcamp will be scheduled based on mutually convenient availability of customer team and Collibra Education team
  10. Data Lineage Bootcamp is for direct training participants and excludes “train-the-trainer” or any changes or customizations to the course content.
  11. A workshop will be conducted to review all customer technical prerequisites before configuration of the Data Lineage feature
  12. A configuration workshop will be scheduled once all the prerequisites have been met.
  13. Customer will troubleshoot any issue related to their internal network issues or database permissions with limited Collibra support.
  14. Customer acknowledges that Collibra may utilize subcontractors in its performance of the Services hereunder.
  15. Customer acknowledges that the expected schedule is based on Collibra’s industry experience. While performing the Services hereunder, Collibra may encounter unforeseen circumstances that increase the effort required to fulfill its obligations. Therefore, Customer hereby agrees that should Collibra require any additional hours and/or days to complete the objectives in the Description of Services, the parties shall mutually agree upon a change order setting out the amended scope and/or fees for such additional hours. Collibra shall use its best efforts to provide to Customer as advance notice of any such additional hours as possible.
  16. Customer will reimburse Collibra for reasonable travel and lodging expenses it incurs in providing Professional Services in accordance with Collibra’s Travel Policy.
