Software Engineer, Catalog

Joining Collibra’s Catalog Team

  • You will join an Engineering team reporting to the Engineering Manager for our Application Portfolio. 
  • You will join a team which enables discovery, understanding and reuse of data assets across the enterprise. This helps improve data governance, increase data literacy, and support informed decision making by providing a comprehensive view of the organization's data assets.
  • The main functionality is ingesting the metadata from many sources, for example databases.. By cataloging and profiling our customers have more visibility of their assets. 
  • You will be working closely with other Data Catalog teams and you will implement  solutions based on modern architectural design and industry best practices.

Software Engineers at Collibra are responsible for:

  • Developing high quality code, including participating in testing and maintenance of that code. 
  • Applying pragmatic engineering approaches to deliver value to customers.
  • Collaborating with Product Management, Design, Architecture, and other Engineers to help estimate work, design scalable and performant solutions that will delight our customers, and produce high quality production-grade software.

You have:

  • 3+ years of experience developing systems with Java11+ and Spring Framework.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Relational Databases and Hibernate.
  • Experience with tools like Jenkins, Gradle, Junit, Git.
  • Experience with test frameworks like Junit 5, AssertJ, Mockito, Cucumber, Serenity BDD.
  • Working knowledge of Unix, Docker and Kubernetes. Pulsar, Kafka and database model optimization are a huge plus!
  • Understanding of Agile principles and Scrum ceremonies.

  • Able to work productively with a geographically distributed remote team.

Measures of success:

  • Within your first month, you will get familiar with the environment we use, the way we implement software as an organization, participate in online stand-up’s, and complete your first user story.
  • Within your third month, you will implement new user stories with quality and care, and understand what value they will bring to our customers. You will recognize areas for improvement and begin to propose ideas to the team during stand-ups.
  • Within your sixth month, you will be a key part of the Core Catalog team, regularly delivering quality code, participating in testing, and providing constructive input on the design and approaches taken to improve our software.
