Senior Manager, Site Reliability Engineering

Joining Collibra’s Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team:

  • Collibra’s SRE team is responsible for the observability, reliability and scalability of Collibra’s Data Intelligence Cloud.
  • SREs work closely with Engineering teams to instrument code, establish Service Level Objectives, and make telemetry available to a broad variety of consumers across the business through our observability stack.
  • SREs advocate for sound reliability practices within our Engineering community to enable a predictable customer experience.
  • Lead with confidence is a value we weave into our daily approach to building a world class, at-scale software platform for supporting Collibra’s production systems. Using innovative approaches to tackling complex problems we promote a strong, confident engineering culture.

Senior Manager, Site Reliability Engineering at Collibra are responsible for:

  • Owning end-to-end observability of Collibra’s SaaS platform and enabling accountability through SLOs across all of our solutions.
  • Leading a team of Site Reliability Engineers to deliver value by building and developing tools that enable a consistent approach to observability, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Establishing strong partnerships with Architecture, Product Engineering, and Production Engineering to influence decisions to optimize reliability of the customer experience.
  • Mentoring an inclusive, collaborative and innovative team of engineers to build a global SRE practice.
  • Providing leadership and subject matter expertise for critical issues and blameless postmortems

You Have:

  • BS degree or equivalent related working experience is required
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team of site reliability engineers, platform/devops engineers, or software engineers
  • 8+ years of experience of hands-on experience as a software engineer, platform engineer, performance engineer, and/or site reliability engineer
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience operating enterprise software as as service (SaaS) on public cloud providers (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Experience with modern observability solutions - Grafana, OpenTelemetry, DataDog, Prometheus, Elastic stack or similar.

You Are:

  • Familiar with applying software engineering approaches to cloud operations and infrastructure (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Able to lead an engineering team by example, producing work/code when necessary.
  • Ambitious; your team’s growth is your success.
  • Motivated by the challenge of scaling a growing company.
  • An excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • A U.S. Citizen based in the United States.

Reporting to Collibra’s Senior Director, Production Support Engineering, the measures of success are:

  • Within your first month, you will gain an understanding of the Collibra products, our personas and the most common user workflows associated with them.
  • Within your third month, you will build partnerships with cross-functional teams, be comfortable with the SRE team’s processes, and begin to explore improvements to our operational model.
  • Within your sixth month, you will be leading the SRE roadmap,  contributing to critical production issues, and partnering with leaders from other teams to drive the company’s mission forward.
