Director of Content Strategy

Joining Collibra’s Product Design team:

At Collibra we make data meaningful for our Data Citizens. As the Content Strategy Director, you understand why and how a human-centered design approach transforms a business.  You will establish the content strategy for all Collibra products, and you will ensure that language flows through the product experience consistently. Building a strong brand for the importance of top-quality content within Collibra’s Product and Engineering divisions is an important part of the job. The UX writer(s) and the Technical writing team will report to this Director.  This is a team that has been through rapid growth, will continue to grow, and requires a content strategist who drives strategic thinking and linguistic excellence across the product design process and beyond.

The Content Strategy Director at Collibra is responsible for:

  • Developing a cohesive content strategy for Collibra products that creates a clear, customer-centric future direction for Technical Writing, i.e. for documentation and release notes, and for the in-product copy, UX Writing
  • Working closely with the UX/UI designers and Researchers to determine how language can improve usability and adoption of our products, driving for execution without compromising on quality
  • Build collaborative relationships with the product leaders and product managers, engineering team, marketing, customer success, sales enablement, and QA to drive the success of one voice for Collibra
  • Build an internal center of excellence at Collibra, championing storytelling, and written excellence; share best practices with others. Be the advocate for the proper use of language in our products.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a global team of UX writers and Technical Writers.
  • Inspire the designers to write and publish their thoughts on the impact of design on a business.

You Have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Journalism, Writing, Human-Computer Interaction, and or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of experience in B2B or software industry
  • 6+ years of experience managing and leading writing and/or editorial teams
  • A solid technical background with solid project management skills
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship management abilities

You Are:

  • Customer-driven and passionate about helping our customers be successful
  • Committed to developing and owning the content strategy and roadmap
  • Able to work cross-functionally and create understanding for the importance of language across Collibra
  • Able to balance short-term goals and long-term vision
  • A systems thinker who knows how to balance a data-driven approach with qualitative aspects

Reporting to Collibra’s VP of Design, the Content Strategy Director’s measures of success are:

  • Within your first month, you will study Collibra’s business strategy, and understand how the Product Design strategy connects to the larger picture. You will have first thoughts on the Content Strategy process and how the Technical Writing and UX Writing teams work.
  • Within your third month, you will have made close connections with relevant stakeholders, such as with your direct reports, peers in the Product & Engineering group, Marketing, Design team, and with Customers. The Content Strategy team has a charter, vision, mission and steps to achieve the mission.
  • Within your sixth month, you will have shown success by having made measurable improvements to the way we write and publish release notes and documentation. For UX writing, you will have set the stage for in-product copy to be improved upon in our most important strategic bet project.  You will have customer data to support your decisions and can show a before and after measurable difference.
