At Collibra, we believe that our work matters. We strive to transform our company, our industry and the world. We recently embraced this core value by coming together to give back to our local communities through the GiveOne initiative. Collibrians across the globe joined together to feed the elderly, clean up parks, educate kids, restock food pantries and clean rivers (just to name a few).
GiveOne is part of Collibra’s greater charitable initiative, Collibra For Good, which strives to create a platform for giving back in our local communities, while also fostering employee engagement. Collibra’s charitable journey began in 2017, when Collibra donated to Casa do Gaiato de Lisboa, an organization that assists and houses underprivileged children. The next year, Collibra raised $20,000 for Covenant House in New Orleans. With the growing success of the company, Collibra decided it was time to create a global initiative, GiveOne, that allowed all employees to participate in Collibra’s mission of generating good in our communities both internally and externally.
GiveOne was a huge success with 232 Collibrians participating across seven office locations. In just one week, Collibrians made a significant impact across the globe, dedicating 1,020 total hours to volunteer efforts. Here in New York, teams helped build garden infrastructures for GrowNYC, served 93 elderly people in just one day for Citymeals on Wheels, and helped students with their homework at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hudson County. In Wroclaw, volunteers picked up trash along the Odra River for Fundacja OnWater.pl, inspired children through motivational presentations for Child Care Home, and walked dogs for the Fundacja 2+4 animal shelter. In addition, in Brussels, teams refurbished rooms for the Center for General Welfare Work, gardened for Eyckerheyde, and repaired stables for Kodiel. Truly an impressive week!
On top of all the volunteering, Collibra For Good partnered with Women of Collibra to raise money for cancer research. Women of Collibra pioneered this initiative raising £8,852.12 for Cancer Research UK and $9,042 for the American Cancer Society. This money came from a large corporate donation, as well as internal fundraising. The marrying of Collibra for Good and Women of Collibra really emulates our mission of One Collibra.
As I look back on the week, I am proud to be part of such a mission driven company. Our work really does matter and that is very special. I would also like to give a giant shout out to our experience and engagement ambassadors Carly, Danny, and Nitya for spearheading and organizing this event. In addition, this event would not have been possible without the help of the extended employee experience team in each office who chose the organizations, coordinated the volunteer groups and led the initiative for GiveOne.
