7 Data Predictions for 2017

DataPredictionsfor

Over the past week, we’ve looked back at the most-read blogs and hot topics of 2016. But as the year draws to a close, we looked into our crystal ball to see what’s ahead for the world of data in 2017. We uncovered a number of data predictions for 2017 – seven to be exact. Here’s a sneak peek at a few of them.

The Rise and Fall of the CDO

As the pressure to become data-driven continues to increase, we predict many organizations will accelerate the hiring of a Chief Data Officer. But not all CDOs will have the skills needed to navigate the challenges of the role, including collaboration across the lines of business, change management, and enterprise-wide adoption.

An Explosion of Educational Opportunities

Finding talented people who are both business-savvy and data-savvy can be a challenge. But having a workforce with this blend of skills is imperative for modern business. We predict that 2017 will bring about an explosion of new educational opportunities that help to educate and certify the new class of data citizens. (Hint: Collibra University will help accelerate this education!)

The Army of Data Citizens will Rise up Against the Data Dictators

If you use data to do your job, then you are a data citizen. And data citizens have rights. In 2017, data citizens will embrace their rights, and stand up to the data dictators by demanding the right to find, understand, and trust their organization’s data. Long live the data citizens!

Be sure to download our full set of data predictions for 2017 so you’re up to speed on what’s ahead in the year to come. You’ll learn more about the predictions above, and uncover four more predictions to round out the list. What do you predict for data in the year ahead?

Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year. Thanks for reading, and see you in 2017!
