New York, March 11, 2016 — Collibra, a global leader in data governance software solutions for business users, today announced data journalist and designer David McCandless will be the opening keynote speaker at its inaugural user conference, the Collibra Data Citizens Conference. McCandless’s talk will explore the beauty and ubiquity of data.

McCandless has championed the use of infographics and data visualizations to explore new directions for journalism and design. His popular blog and best-selling book, Information Is Beautiful, is dedicated to visualizing ideas, issues, knowledge and data – and to discovering new patterns and stories in the sea of data.David McCandless is a London-based author, data-journalist, and information designer, working across print, advertising, TV, and web. His work is a response to the changing world of data and information. McCandless believes that in this age of high-speed living and information overload, visualized information has incredible potential to help us quickly understand, navigate, and find meaning in a complex world. At the same time, daily exposure to the web is creating an information design-literate population who demand their information in visual form.

His information design work has appeared in over 40 publications internationally, including The Guardian, Wired, and Die Zeit. His commercial clients include GE, Google, and the United Nations. An increasingly popular public speaker, he has spoken at TED Global and over 40 international conferences.

The Collibra Data Citizens conference will take place on May 3-4, 2016 at the Andaz Wall Street Hotel. Collibra customers, partners, and others interested in understanding how to have easier access to good and trustworthy organizational data are all encouraged to attend.

“During the Conference, attendees will experience two days of thought-provoking sessions that provide all data citizens with new skills, best practices, and the latest thinking in data governance, big data, and enterprise-wide data governance adoption,” said Felix Van de Maele, co-founder and chief executive officer, Collibra. “This is a must-attend event for chief data officers, aspiring CDOs, and data users everywhere.”
