How you'll make an impact at Collibra:
As the Lead Engineer of Scala team you will be responsible for the code scanner. Its core functionality is syntactic and semantic analysis of SQL code, and serializing a related metadata like data flows, joined columns, filters, etc. In the near future the scanner needs to process also programming languages like Python and Java. At the same time, you will help Collibra products transition to complete SaaS model.
Besides challenging coding responsibilities, you will also be person leading the team in their delivery cycles, efforts and overall architecture tasks.
Your work will have a positive impact on companies and developers maintaining a legacy codebase. A common scenario is that a Data Warehousing team in a larger enterprise company ends up with 1m+ lines of legacy code. Value proposition and motto of the team you will lead is “We need 10 minutes to document 10 years of your development”.

A day in the life of a Scala Engineer / Technical Lead at Collibra:
Manage day-to-day technical challenges and lead the team development efforts
Lead the definition and implementation of architecture, technical strategies, standards, configurations, and ensure overall team success!
Overcome what can be achieved with programming language processing
Implement algorithms for traversing AST and ensure scalability by processing millions of lines of code in a challenging time
Leverage metadata buried in AST and deliver a great value to end users
Achieve many great things of which you, and your team, will be be proud about, and fall asleep happily after a great working day
5+ years of functional programming experience (e.g., Scala, Haskell or other relevant language)
A strong belief that functional programming is the way to go
1+ year experience with managing development pipelines and organizing a team
Practical experience and a strong theoretical knowledge regarding parsers and compilers
An Agile mindset and experience or Knowledge with Scrum and/or Kanban
Great organization skills and you intuitively create structure around yourself
A strong knowledge about SQL
You’re fully capable of working in English
A teamplayer attitude, open and positive mindset
