How you'll make an impact at Collibra:

Collibra seeks a Site Reliability Engineer with the high focus on Observability.
As our customer base keeps growing and our product keeps evolving, we find it important that we get full insight in what is going on. As our expert Observability engineer you will help the teams with ensuring the right metrics are in our monitoring toolset so they get insight in how and what their service or feature is doing. You understand this is the most critical component of improving reliability and the best way of giving feedback to the developers.


A day in the life of a Site Reliability Engineer at Collibra:

You’ll be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:

  • You will collaborate and guide our Application Engineering teams to ensure our Applications are emitting the right metrics.
  • You will continuously refine monitoring processes, thresholds, and configuration(SLO/SLI)
  • Collect, aggregate, and visualize the collected metrics to provide actionable insights.
  • Error budget is critical component for you as it’s backed by data
  • Ensure observability is built in from the start of our new generation of the product
  • You understand in order to improve you need to know where you are right now (metrics help with this)
  • You will make it easy for the applications teams to ensure they get the right metrics in, this can be done by writing tooling
  • Apply data modeling and predictive analysis to anticipate potential issues before they manifest
  • Identify critical metrics to monitor and alert on to surface actual user issues
  • Participate in Scrum processes and ceremonies
  • Building software to help operations and support teams



You Have:

  • Track record of working as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or a Software Engineer
  • Experience in modern observability tools, such as Grafana, Datadog, Signalfx , Logs.io, prometheus
  • You feel at home in concepts like Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD
  • You have experience with many of the following tools like Ansible, Terraform , Jenkins
  • Understanding how to monitor environments like AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Linux etc. 
  • You have monitored technologies like elasticsearch, postgres, tomcat in the past
  • Able to inspire other people to work with you, enjoy mentoring and coaching other engineers
  • You feel at home on a Linux system and it does not have a lot of secrets for you
  • Docker, Kubernetes are no longer new technologies for you, you used it before and found out what are critical components to monitor.
  • You know how applications work, what it needs and how communication flows after seeing a diagram
  • You can explain why SLO & SLI's are so important.
  • You trust in data to make good decisions
  • You understand what it means to have a stable system
  • You have experience in at least one scripting language: python, go
  • Experience using Agile practices
