Collibra Platform

Consolidating your information assets is not an easy task. The Collibra Platform is the first enterprise-ready solution that empowers you to collaborate on modeling, maintaining, and managing your business semantics.

Overview

The Collibra Platform is an advanced kind of repository where Business Semantics can be stored, managed and governed.

Benefits

  1. Representation power: The platform stores information in its most basic form: elementary facts. An elementary fact is simply a term in relation to another term. This relation can furthermore be traversed from both directions. This mechanism facilitates the storage of any kind of information. Additionally, it allows the user  to import any format into the platform and export the stored business semantics back to any standard format.
  2. Understanding: The business semantics stored on the platform are understandable for any stakeholder through special disambiguation features. The platform is build in a several layers: a Pattern layer and a Commitment layer. This makes the use of the platform much more scalable. Several terms can point to the same concept. A concept can be explained through synonyms, textual or multimedia descriptions.
  3. Documentation: The platform stores the link between the data stored in pre-existing information silo's and the corresponding business semantics. This can be seen as a kind of operational documentation as it makes the structure and meaning of the existing information assets clear for all stakeholders.
  4. Information sharing: Centrally storing your business semantics, understandable for all stakeholders, and directly linked to the actual instance data, makes sharing these information assets much easier and more efficient. Through Collibra's Platform, all stakeholders are able to access, find, and reuse the information assets within the company.

Features

  1. Access: All content within the Platform can be easily accessed through web services on top of a stable API.
  2. Scalability: Our platfom has no problem to scale to many users over a large or extended enterprise. Organizationally, we use contexts and domains to group relevant business semantics which makes finding and reusing them easy. On an architectural level, the platform is built using a three-tier architecture. The presentation layer is seperated by a stable API from the application logic and data storage layer.
  3. Versioning: All business semantics are versioned. This makes it much easier for several people to work on the same set of semantics. Through our versioning API, it is very easy to track who has made which changes, and correct them afterwards.
  4. Ticketing: If you do not have the right to change something, a ticket is automatically created for someone to accept or reject your change. As an information architect, you can also create to-do tickets for other participants.
  5. Evolution: Through our unique versioning and ticketing system, the business semantics can evolve with the underlying information systems and the changing market requirements.
